Projects in the Works…

As usual, too many, and I’m not making a big enough dent.

First up is the Dark City Games adventure, Uprising! This is about a group of slave-gladiators in an underground city of evil dwarves. That city, Blackledge, was seen in the distance in my old adventure Raid on Cygnosa. It is very close to being done; I had hoped to have completed it before now, but there’s some fine tuning left to go. After that will be a game about Stalingrad in our Combat Boots series. I have a lot of sources to draw on for this.

Then there is the story I am working on for Tales From the Magician’s skull. I have an interesting world loosely thought out, and a central character. Not sure how long I want to make this. There should be plenty of background for many stories on this planet, though.

Then there is Sword & Sorcery gaming. I have some good ideas for the next few issues of the Greywater Chronicles. But I realized it has been two years since I have painted any figures. I have done some terrain in that time, and still have plenty to go. In terrain alone, I have Dwarven Forge from Kickstarters 5, 6, and 6.66 to paint up; some sci-fi tiles from the Dungeons and Lasers Kickstarter; a batch from the Rampage Dungeons Kickstarter; and a few Egyptian-esque tiles from Lunes D’Argent to finish.

But I need to get some figs painted up! I found where I had a bout four or five dozen in various stages of completion that I had set aside back in 2018. I need to get back on them, too!

In addition to all that, I have a hankering to do another big adventure game scenario. It was about a year ago that I played through Shades’ Hollow; it’d be cool to do another, similar epic game.

Good thing I’m unemployed now, eh?

So the rest of this week, I hope to finish Uprising! and get some terrain tiles and figures finished for upcoming issues of the comic.

A few pictures from this morning going through paint and partially-painted figures and tiles:

Figures begging for paint!
My precisely organized paints – well, most of them.
The Rampage tiles, primed. I really like the detail on these. I think I will give them a brown theme, to contrast with all my other tiles.
I couldn’t resist getting started on the Dungeons & Lasers wall tiles that I had primed last month. How will these fit into Greywater? We may find out in the very next issue!

Okay, that’s enough flapping of my electronics gums for now. Hope you are all well!

    1. Hey, Narmer,

I really hope you like it. The major issue has been to still give players some agency while they are slaves and forced into the arena continually. I think I have done that, even if the players miss a few rolls interacting with some of the dwarggs.

      Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Can’t wait for UPRISING!!!! Looking forward to another Quality adventure.

Separately, for figures, do you like any of the 28mm “Seven Seas” for bad guys? Just wondering, I generally don’t like characature-like figures.

    1. Hey, George,

Yeah, sorry Uprising! is lagging behind, but I think it will be worth it. As I mentioned above to our friend Narmer, making sure the players can direct their fate has been a bit tough, and getting a variety of arena opponents and situations has been challenging as well. But i do think you will be happy with it!

As far as the Seven Seas, do you mean the figures from North Star Games? I don’t have any – in fact, I have very few 28mm. 99% of my dudes are old lead, true 25mm. The newest figures I have are reissues from Ral Partha/Iron Wind Metals, and Classic Minis (whose owner has the rights to a lot of old lines, like Heritage Dungeon Dwellers, Fantastiques, and Ral Partha’s Conan lines.

And, like you, I am not a big fan of caricature , either.

      Thanks for swinging by, man!
